Premiers of British Columbia
Here's a chart showing all the Prime Ministers of the Province of British Columbia.
I use the term "interim" to designate a premier who came to office without being elected, ie: by being appointed by the party or Lieutenant Governor after the death or resignation of an incumbent. Once the premier won an election, he ceases to be "interim" with the date of the election noted as the last day of his interim term.
Here are the party colors. Lighter color means interim premier.
| Liberal | Conservative | Social Credit | NDP |
Before 1903 there were no parties in BC. There were two "groups" of like-minded MPs that alternated in power, however. As the years went on, they became defacto parties.
| Group one | Group two |
(NC) indicates a premier who resigned from office following a no-confidence vote.

¹ The 1903 election marked the introduction of parties in BC politics
* From 1941 to 1952 the province was governed by a coalition of Liberals and Conservatives in the BC parliament. The premiers who headed the coalition governments were all Liberals, as they commanded the majority of the coalition.
* Premier Miller was appointed interim premier on the understanding that his term would end once the NDP appointed a permanent replacement for Premier Clark, who had resigned suddenly.
