… FilibusterFilibuster is a webcomic about politics. I draw it in the style of a conventional editorial cartoon, with lots of labels and metaphors and things.
It’s been around since the summer of 2001, when I started this site as a project in my final year of high school. Once in a while a Filibuster toon gets published in a legitimate newspaper or magazine, but it’s mostly an online thing.
My name is J.J. McCullough. I’m a cartoonist and writer living in the suburbs of Vancouver, British Columbia. Born here in 1984, I’ve lived in this part of the world my whole life, except for one particularly disastrous year I spent living in Japan.
I’m not a supporter of any political party, though I guess my views are basically conservative. I’ve acted as a pundit from time to time on Canadian radio and television, and I’ve had a lot of ornery letters, and sometimes even columns, printed in various newspapers. For more about this sort of thing, check out my “professional” website, jjmccullough.com.
What else? Uh, I like video games, even though I never play them. And eating candy.
If you look to the little sidebar on your right, you will see some ways you can get in touch with me, or even possibly give me money. Either would be much appreciated.
Someday I’ll make a proper one, but until then, examples of my work are kinda all over the place.
I have a DeviantArt account, and a Flickr one, though updates to both are erratic.
I sometimes work as a reporter for the Vancouver Metro newspaper. An archive of my articles can be found here.
As I mentioned, I like doing commentary, and I’m sometimes a guest, self-invited or otherwise, on podcasts and things. Here’s me on The Sporkful, denouncing ice cream cakes, and here’s me on the CBC’s Cross Country Check-Up denouncing the monarchy (I come on at 1:10:50). If you have a thing you want me to be on, feel free to email me.
Big thanks go out to the following guys, without whom the site would never be anything close to what it is today:

John, my good friend from the Maritimes, basically made this whole site from scratch, for which I am eternally grateful. Pretty much everything you see is a product of his vision. Any screw ups are all me, however.
John’s a talented musician, and you can listen to his stuff online on the page of his one-man-band, Wolfpigeon. |

Trevor is a Vancouverite like me, and the guy who runs the server that graciously hosts Filibuster. He’s also in charge of the fine all-things-Canadian hub site Canadaka, which hosts the Filibuster forums.
Trevor is a pretty prolific interneter, and runs a vast array of interesting sites. A particularly cool one is Politwitter.ca, which lets you browse the tweets of pretty much every single politician in Canada, at any level of government (who uses Twitter). Trevor is also the husband of my other good pal Angela, who draws the fine webcomic Wasted Talent, in which both of them feature prominently. |

My Filipino-Canadian pal Earl has been my friend for many years, and helped me set up, and now maintain, the Filibuster Facebook page. He’s also a close advisor and confidant, and one of my main go-to guys for help and advice regarding Filibuster. |
