Barack Obama now has a Dick Cheney of his very own in the form of Senator Joseph Biden, who he picked as his official vice-presidential running mate this weekend.
Senator Biden is a safe and fairly uncontroversial pick and there has been little serious criticism of him. His only potential negative is how much he contrasts with Obama. Biden has served in the Senate for three decades and is currently the chairman of the foreign relations committee. On paper, at least, he is a great deal more qualified to be president than Obama, which makes one wonder what kind of Bush-Cheney dynamic the two will have if they actually do get elected.
