The death toll for this week’s devastating cyclone in Burma is now said to have surpassed ten thousand deaths.
A great deal of these deaths have been entirely preventable, and are the result of the Burmese military government’s crazy paranoia. Western aid workers, including those from the United Nations, have not be allowed to enter the country to provide relief to the disaster zone. Instead, the third-world ramshackle dictatorship has been attempting to handle the crisis all by itself, with predictably dismal results.
