At 10:59 AM, on Thursday, September 20, the Canadian Dollar officially eclipsed the US dollar in value by several fractions of a cent. It’s the first time it’s happened in more than 30 years.
It’s hard to understate how important this event is to Canadians. Having a low-valued dollar is such a firm component of the Canadian identity… to finally have escaped from that role is to challenge everything we thought we knew.
