9-11, six years on

9-11, six years on

It is really quite sad and disappointing how more and more people seem to be getting swept up in the nonsense of the 9-11 conspiracy theory subculture. In the last couple of years it has quickly evolved from fringe nonsense to fairly mainstream position, complete with high-profile celebrity backers and polite media attention.

And yet every single claim they’ve ever made has been so thoroughly debunked! It’s not like with Kennedy, where there was so much obvious ambiguity; the events of 9-11 are pretty damn clear for anyone who cares to honestly research.

But people don’t care to honestly research things anymore. We’ve become very intellectually lazy as a society, the young people especially. People want easy answers to explain the world’s problems, and then even easier answers to solve those problems. Contrary to the expectations at the time, 9-11 failed to make anyone more mature or thoughtful . Even a cataclysm like that failed to pull us from our steady slog into mental mediocrity, which is not an encouraging thought for the future.

Here’s a good editorial by Mark Steyn.
