Senator John Kerry attempted to make a joke during a campaign rally the other day, and the results were predictably devastating.
Addressing a crowd of students at Pasadena City College, Kerry praised education, making the quip he’s making in my comic. Study hard, or you’ll get stuck in Iraq. Apparently, the intent was to imply Bush is an idiot, but without the vital pronoun “us,” his joke comes off as a swipe against soldiers.
Bush and other Republicans have implied this was Kerry’s intent all along, and are trying to make this into an issue that can swing the election to their favor at the last minute.
