In his address to the UN General Assembly this week, President Bush made his strongest plea to date for intervention in Sudan. To date, the civilized world has done little to stop the ongoing genocide in that country. There have been some calls for a peacekeeping force to be deployed to stop the killings, but the Sudanese dictatorship has so far refused to assent to such a plan.

“If the Sudanese government does not approve a peacekeeping force quickly, the United Nations must act,” said Bush. Such words seem to imply that Bush would favor an outright invasion of Sudan if things don’t change soon.

And things probably aren’t going to change soon. After Bush’s speech, the President of Sudan declared that he will never accept UN forces in his country, and rambled on with some crazy anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.
