The Republican Party, up for re-election in a few months, has long hoped that the 2006 race would not turn into a referendum on the Iraq war. Those fears appear to be coming true however.
Apparently the war issue consistently tops the polls as the issue Americans are “most concerned” about, far ahead of matters like the economy, or even terrorism. And with nearly two-thirds of Americans now disapproving of the war… well, it will talk very clever campaigning indeed to turn this into a political advantage for the GOP.
