The California house recently passed a bill to make private healthcare illegal in the state. Instead, from now on all Californians will participate in a government-run, “single payer” system, with free (read: taxpayer-funded) medical service for all!
It’s explicitly based on the Canadian healthcare system, which many liberal Americans have long admired (which in response has caused many liberal Canadians to greedily lord over it, constantly mocking of all the Americans who don’t have free hospitals).
Assuming Governor Schwarzenegger does not veto the bill (though this could easily happen) there will now be more Americans with universal healthcare than Canadians, since California has a greater population than Canada. How will Canada claim to be “different” now? Read the full story here.
