The United States Senate unsuccessfully attempted to pass a constitutional amendment banning flag desecration last week. The first round of voting failed to pass by only one vote.
One can have endless debates about the free speech matters raised by such an amendment. But I see it more as a solution in search of a problem. Who in America are still burning flags in this day and age? That’s so passe.
