Premier Klein of Alberta was in Washington DC this week, meeting with Vice President Cheney. The Premier has been trying to raise American awareness of Alberta’s vast, largely untapped oil fields; oil fields which are among the largest of anywhere in the world.
If the oil from the Alberta tar sands is properly processed, experts are predicting that there could easily be enough crude to fuel both the United States and Canada for at least another 100 years. At present it seems this is one of the great unknown facts in America. Once people do start to learn about Alberta, however, I imagine the current faddish interest in finding “alternative fuels” will quickly evaporate.
