As that great hero of the people, Jon Stewart, fearlessly reported earlier this week, the moderate Republican senator John McCain has recently shown signs of cozying up to the so-called “religious right” of the conservative movement, likely in anticipation of a future presidential run.
On May 13 Senator McCain is scheduled to give a commencement speech at Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University- widely known as a hotbed of Christian activism. McCain has previously denounced Falwell as being an “evil influence” on the Republican party, and an “agent of intolerance.” Now something has apparently changed, but I doubt it was Falwell.
