A while ago, some guy in Afghanistan named Abdul Rahman decided to covert from Islam to Christianity. Big mistake! Under Islamic Sharia law, which Afghanistan’s legal system is based on, converting to Christianity is a high crime punishable by death- and that’s the sentence Mr. Rahman was given.
There was a large international outcry, however, and now the charges have been dropped. The court has now ruled Rahman not guilty by reason of insanity, which I guess is a victory of sorts.
