You do have to feel a bit sorry for the Liberal Party these days. The latest scandal is this insider trading controversy swirling around Ralph Goodale, the finance minister. Mr. Goodale and his office are now the subject of a criminal probe being investigated by the Mounties, but despite it all he refuses to resign his post.

This cartoon is literally not much of an exaggeration. A lot of Liberal candidates are increasingly on the defensive these days, and their stock answers to the most-commonly asked questions are often taking the form of denials of criminal wrongdoing. Not a position any incumbent party wants to be in.
