Bolivia elected a new President a couple weeks ago, Evo Morales. Senior Morales is a raging socialist who got elected on an explicitly anti-capitalism and anti-American platform.
Already the president-elect has visited Cuba, and pledged solidarity with the Castro regime. A similar show of unity with fellow socialistic Castro-lover Hugo Chavez is also in the works.
I don’t think anyone anticipated that we’d still be discussing the spread of Castroite socialism in South America in 2006.
