Despite all the scandals swirling around the Liberal government, polls in Canada are still giving the party a more than 12 point lead over the Conservatives.
Many attribute the poor showing to Conservative Party leader Stephen Harper, who has long struggled to overcome his drab nerdish image.
The ironic thing is that Harper originally became leader at least in part BECAUSE he was a drab nerd. The old leader was a flamboyant guy named Stockwell Day who enjoyed water-skiing to press conferences and thus was widely regarded as too much of a joke to get elected.
