Yesterday Iraq’s first ever Kurdish President was sworn in, just days after being elected by the new Iraqi parliament. Under Saddam’s rule, you will remember, the Kurds were Iraq’s most hated minority, repeatedly gassed and murdered and so forth. Because of Saddam’s obvious hatred of the Kurds, the Iraqi prison guards who are currently holding the deposed dictator foreced him to watch the live broadcast of the inauguration. Then I assume they laughed.
