Ever since Conservative Party leader Stephen Harper lost last summer’s election, he seems to have gotten a lot more nervous and self-conscious. I assume this is because the Party Elders have told him that his “old strategy” of outspoken anti-Liberal sass mouth is too “divisive” or “radical” or whatever, and that it’s better to be “moderate” and “conciliatory.” As a result he is now vetting his MPs before they speak in parliament and almost didn’t allow for an open debate on social issues at his upcoming party convention. I imagine his keynote address will likewise be very mild and wishy-washy, following on this running theme.
