Augusto Pinochet, Chile’s former military leader, has been in legal limbo for quite some time. There are a lot of outstanding charges linked to him, but because he’s so old and sick judges have repeatedly ruled that he cannot stand trial. But now, after a ruling last week, they say he can, and will stand trial.
It’ll probably only be a matter of time before this ruling is in turn reversed. What a wacky judicial system those Chileans have.
