I was watching CNN’s election coverage for most of last night. I realize they didn’t want to be too gung-go about calling states after the whole Flordia Debacle of 2000â„¢, but they were absurdly cautious.
Putting Ohio as formally “undecided” when 95% of the votes were in just seemed stupid, like they were trying to string out the election as long as possible. A lot of the other media seems to have done this as well. The front page headline of Canada’s “National Post” today is “CLIFFHANGER” and the articles are full of phrases like “whoever the next president is…”
I didn’t go to bed uncertain over who had been elected President, and I doubt anyone else did. This is not a partisan complaint, but I think a lot of the media simply allowed the fears of 2000 to disort the clarity of their reporting.
