The two new members of the Supreme Court of Canada were sworn in yesterday, after Paul, in typical fashion appointed them unilaterally earlier this year.
The big headline so far has been the fact that our nine-member Supreme Court now has four women. The Liberal government is essentially now openly appointing members to the nation’s top course sorely on the basis of gender. I’m sure other forms of affirmative-action in the judiciary can’t be far behind.
