Even though an election has not yet been called, the Canadian Liberal party is already in attack mode. They have created a hilarious new website in which “shocking” quotes from Stephen Harper, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada are displayed for all to see. They are also running ads displaying the quotes against a backdrop of festive bongo music.
The quote I have Stephen Harper saying in this toon is one of the quotes used in the ads. After the quote is displayed on screen it is followed by text that says “He really did. He called Canada ‘second-rate’” I think it’s a bit funny that the Liberal’s only complaint with the quote is that he refers to Canada as “second rate.” I suppose if he had said Canada is the “number one” braggart socialistic country that would have been A-OK.
