Russian President Vladmir Putin was sworn in for his second term as Russian President last week, amid great fanfare and formality. Now that he and his supporters are both in firm control of the executive and legislative branches of government, Putin is expected to pass some amendments to the Russian constitution, allowing him to remain in office for several additional terms.
Putin is also starting to emerge as the central figure of a renewed personality cult in Russia, with many large portraits and statues of him increasingly popping up in public places.
