On 60 Minutes last week they profiled the South African lawyer who will be representing Saddam in the ex-dictators upcoming trial.
Mr. South Africa apparently plans to play up the “blame America” angle, auguring that in a great deal of crimes Saddam committed, the US government was complicit. He plans to focus on the brief period in the 1980′s in which Saddam’s government was given various forms of US aide in order to fight Iran in the Iran-Iraq war of the time.
A similar plan of attack was used by the lawyers of former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noreiga. Considering Mr. Noreiga is still in prison, the approach was not too successful.
