Somewhat awkwardly, three days after the March 11 Terrorist attacks in Spain, parliamentary elections were held. The socialists rode to power in a large majority, deposing the conservative party of Prime Minister Jose Aznar.
Aznar was a big supporter of the war in Iraq. His critics speculate it was that support which in turn prompted the 3-11 attacks.
Apparently the best way to deal with this new climate of terror is to throw out the party which has been most aggressive in participating in the war on terror.
