South Africa’s president, Thabo Mbeki greatly respects Zimbabwe’s crazy leader, Robert Mugabe, for some reason. In recent weeks Mbeki has hinted that he may institute Mugabe-style land grabs in South Africa, that could seize farmland from whites, and give it to impoverished blacks. This is justified with the logic that since the white race has historically been oppressive to blacks, it’s “just” to take things away from the descendants of said oppressors.
In Zimbabwe, this policy has caused massive famines and poverty. But it remains popular in African countries with white minorities. Here’s a lengthy editorial on the issue
