Ayatollah Hakim, a fundamentalist Muslim leader has emerged as one of the leading political forces in post-Saddam Iraq. He apparently wants Iraq to be rebuilt as an Islamic republic in the style of Iran.
The “Hakim for Supreme Leader” campaign understandably has much support from Iran, the nation in which Hakim has lived most of his life.
