As the French continue to protest a US-backed invasion of Iraq some Americans have started an impromptu boycott of all things French.
The leaders of the boycott are encouraging Americans to stop buying French wine and cheese, and to use the term “Freedom Fries” instead of “French Fries.”
It’s an obvious throwback to World War Two, when Americans called Sauerkraut “Liberty Cabbage” rather than use a German name.
