Well, it’s official. The nation of Yugoslavia is no more.
Although it didn’t receive much media attention, the Yugoslavian parliament voted to abolish itself on Tuesday, and thus finally ended the European republic’s eight-decade life.
After Grand Marshal Tito’s death in 1980, the nation grew increasingly divided, and one by one the various provinces slowly jumped ship. The last two provinces, Serbia and Montenegro have now finally left, so the concept of Yugoslavia no longer has any reason to exist.
