The Columbia space shuttle tragedy has many eerie parallels to the Challenger tragedy of 1986.
Both explosions killed all seven passengers, and both times the fatalities included a “first ever” astronaut. In ’86 it was the first ever civilian, while in ’03 it was the first Israeli.
Luckily, both were responded to with excellent Presidential speeches.
