Vice President Cheney is currently in deep doo-doo over allegations of shady corporate activities.
Until the year 2000, Cheney was CEO of a big oil company called Halliburton, and apparently hired accountants who would inflate his company’s profits, and thus stock value, a la Enron.
If Cheney is found guilty, he could resign. It has happened before. Former (and late) Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned in 1973 after he was found guilty of similar white-collar crimes.
