Hamid Karzai was appointed President of Afghanistan this week, by a “loyal jirga” of Afghani delegates.
Other than the title, Karzai’s powers are very unspecific, and Afghanistan still lacks a decision-making legislative council.
Though Karzai himself seems like a nice enough guy, there is still a lot of room for corruption and abuse of power on his part. Or if not him, then by the warlords, who will no doubt soon be manipulating him.
