Iraqi President Saddam Hussien celebrated his 65th birthday this weekend. It was a lavish affair, with lots of giant posters, maditory parades, and a giant birthday cake in the shape of one of Saddam’s many palaces.
There was also an unveiling of a new Saddam portrait gallery, and several new statues were erected in his honor.
Meanwhile, on that same day, approximately 250 people in Iraq died of starvation.
