A summit of the famed “Group of Eight” nations is meeting this week in Genoa, Italy.
Traditionally, the group has only been composed of the US, Japan, Germany, France, England, Italy, and Canada, but sometime last year it was decided that even though it has an increasingly insignificant economy, Russia should also be included.
In my above cartoon, the asterisk beside Canada’s “#7″ reflects the fact that the country is only the world’s seventh richest if you exclude two other nations (China and Brazil).
