The American Episcopal Church, which is the US branch of the Church of England, became the first Anglican church in the world to elect a female presiding bishop this week.
The American (and Canadian) Episcopal churches have caused a lot of controversy in recent years, largely because of their tolerance of homosexuals. Many of the conservative Anglican old guard, especially in other countries, don't care for such liberal attitudes, and the feud could threaten to tear the international alliance apart.
The spiritual purity of a church that was founded to give the King of England a quikie divorce must be maintained!
