The worst kept secret in Washington has finally been formally announced: Senator Kerry will be chosing fellow Senator John Edwards to be his Vice-Presidential running mate.

Edwards' appointment is being praised for, among other things, adding a face of upbeat optimism to a ticket that has often been criticized for being to pessimistic.
